Naklua Fishing Pier
The old Naklua Fishing Pier is a cool place to spend a couple of hours.
I have been there many times but I’ve never actually done any fishing at the place. I go there to enjoy the serenity the pier has to offer.
I usually park my motorbike at the entrance and take a leisurely walk to the end while snapping photos.
After taking a walk I like to grab some food at Shell Tangkay Restaurant near the entrance. The view is great, the food is good, and there’s usually a nice breeze blowing through.
Photography & Selfies
The pier is a great spot for photography. The colorful fishing boats make a great backdrop.
As of right now, the Chinese tour operators haven’t discovered the place so you’re not getting poked with a million selfie sticks. It’s one of the few places in Pattaya that’s not yet overrun with tourists.

Entrance Fee
This recent trip I was charged 20 baht for the entrance fee. In the past, I’ve driven onto the pier without paying anything. Times change. It’s worth 58 U.S. cents for some good clean fun.
There is a little guard house on the left, right across from Shell Tangkay Seafood Restaurant. If the guy isn’t in the hut, someone over on the restaurant side may come out to take your money. I was given a receipt of sorts, so it appears to be legitimate.
A Few Tips
You can drive your motorbike onto the pier, but I don’t recommend it. That defeats the joy of the leisurely walk to the end. Park your motorbike near the restaurant and it will be fine.
Take note that motorbikes and vehicles can be driven onto the pier. Therefore, pay attention! If you don’t, you may get knocked over into the water when you’re not looking.
I recommend you go after 4:00 P.M. when the sun is not so hot. That will give you an hour to hang out before hitting the restaurant for dinner.
Most of the people fishing on the pier are very friendly and will gladly show off their catch if you inquire nicely. I remember one time when a guy had caught a huge stingray. It made for some good pics.
How to Get to Naklua Fishing Pier
If you’re traveling on Second Road in Pattaya (heading away from Walking Street) you will eventually come to the intersection of Pattaya Nua (North Pattaya Road) at the Dolphin Roundabout.
Keep going straight.
Second Road now becomes Pattaya-Naklua Road.
Continue on down to Soi 12 and turn left. There is a 7-11 and a bright yellow building on the corner where you need to turn.
After turning left onto Soi 12, you will eventually come to a Y in the road. Veer right. There is a bar there called Six 5.
Start looking for a Family Mart on the right side of the road. Turn right on the soi just after the Family Mart. There is a blue sign on the corner for Shell Tangkay Seafood Restaurant and other signs written in Korean & Chinese.
Keep straight and you will end up at the Naklua Fishing Pier.
Need a Hotel in Pattaya?
The best way to book hotels here in Southeast Asia is through Agoda. They usually have the lowest prices and it’s a fast and efficient booking process. It’s the only booking engine I use.
